The Call Board Newsletter #1 was released in the summer of 1990 and announced the acquisition of the 143-ton Southern Pacific No. 786 steam locomotive. The Call Board was, and is still to this day, spearheaded by Ben Sargent, the 1982 Pulitzer Prize winner for Editorial Cartooning. Mr. Sargent served as the Board Secretary during that time, and remains an integral part of the organization, now serving as Chairman of the Board.
