ASTA has been making memories since 1992, and we can’t wait to be a part of yours! Whether it is a birthday party, wedding, girls’ night out, or a regular Saturday, we would love to have you on board. Below are some details to wet your whistle, and you can email us at reservations@austinsteamtrain.org when you are ready to book! You can call us during business hours at 512-915-2340.

Pricing

On most of our standard rides (Hill Country Flyer, Bertram Flyer, Sunset or Moonlight Express, and North Pole Flyer) we can offer 10-15% off our tickets for groups of 20 or more. So if you just need a quick quote, choose a ride like the one you are looking for, take a look at the pricing, and add the $4 per ticketing fee per ticket. You can assume 10-15% off that total!

Most special events, especially the Wine Train, Bluebonnet Festival Flyer, holiday-specific rides (Mother’s Day, Father’s Day, Valentine’s Day) and alcohol-based events are rarely discounted due to demand.

Hill Country Flyer- Adults Only Party Package

Enjoy the Hill Country Flyer on the Rippling Stream! 40 seats (22 in the main lounge, and 18 in the compartments) at 15% off for a total of $2,176. (Need a little extra space? The Nambe is available on this same route with 44 seats at $2393.60.)

Hill Country Flyer- All Ages Coach

Our most popular route, for larger groups! Book the New Braunfels car with 62 seats at 15% off for just $2,318.80. Like the coach price, but have a smaller group? Book the Silver Pine at 49 seats for just $1915.90!

Sunset Express, All Ages Coach

Our most economic option, at just $24 ($20.40 at 15% off) a person. Book the Buckeye Lake, Buckeye Trail, or New Braunfels for a group between 20 and 62!

Many cars begin to sell (or sell out!) a month in advance, so please allow some flexibility in your car choice if you are calling a month or less in advance of the ride.

Many things are possible on the railroad, but here are some of our most popular add-ons. Want something you don’t see? Just ask!

Alcohol service: $200 (Bring your own alcohol, we provide the server, ice, coolers and beverage napkins.)

Locomotive Cab Ride: $500 (Give one member of your group the ride of a lifetime!)

Pre-departure train yard tour: $250 for groups of 25 or less, $500 for groups of 26 or more. (Includes a 1-hour tour of the train yard, our equipment, and a locomotive cab tour.)

  • I would like to book tickets for a trip, but that ride isn’t up for sale yet. What’s up?
    Thank you for your patience with us! As you may (or may not!) know, the rails we run on are owned by our friends over at Capital Metro. Every year they juggle our excursion schedule with capital improvements, safety enhancements, and some major freight traffic! The moment we get approval on a ride from Capital Metro, we will put it up for sale to the public. This approval usually comes several months in advance of a ride, but safety comes first! Thanks for understanding.
  • I am celebrating a special occasion. Can I put up decorations?
    Congratulations/happy birthday/mazel tov! Placing items on your tables or chairs is fine, but please note that we do not allow anything to be affixed to any surface of our train. That means no tape, glue, command strips, string, etc may be used to attach any items on absolutely any surface. Our vintage train equipment thanks you! Also, any party items you use should not interfere with the enjoyment of the ride by your fellow passengers. If you would like to book a private car charter, or private compartment for your event, you can contact us at You can call us during business hours at 512-915-2340 for rates and availability. Entry doors maximum width is 27″.
  • For my celebration can I bring cake?
    Adventures on a moving train! For your safety, we ask that all food that is brought on the train be single serving like brownies or cupcakes. Please do not bring anything full sized like a pie or cake that needs to be cut or requires serving utensils. We are also not able to cut, refrigerate or store these items on your behalf. Thank you for understanding! Please, no coolers with wheels, or larger than 50 quart.
  • Can I get a refund or exchange my tickets?
    Important! Because of our unique venue and events, we do not offer refunds. Exchanges, discounts, and cancellations have strict policies. Tickets for the North Pole Flyer are not eligible for refund or exchange. We strongly suggest reading through our Terms and Conditions to get a full understanding prior to purchasing.
  • What is the difference in the cars or classes of service?
    Part of our mission is restoring and preserving vintage train equipment, so each of our cars are unique, and each class has something different to offer! We have two different types of seating: coach-style and lounge-style. Want to skip right to the pictures? Check out The Train page!
